Guidance regarding events in the Middle East

If you are already abroad

  • If you are in the affected area, please follow the advice of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), local authorities or your tour operator and monitor local media.
  • If you have cut short your trip because of this conflict, then you should contact your airline or travel operator, as they have a duty of care to provide accommodation until suitable travel arrangements are made available.
  • If you are unable to return home as planned due to the conflict and your trip will exceed the maximum trip limit on your policy, we will extend your cover period for no additional charge until you can do so.
  • British nationals in Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Palestine, Qatar and United Arab Emirates should register their presence with the UK government to receive direct updates from the FCDO. To do this, please visit https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.

If you are due to travel

  • If you have not yet travelled and cannot because of this conflict, for example, if your operator/carrier has cancelled your flight, please contact your tour operator or travel provider for a full refund. If your travel company cannot refund your money, you may be able to ask them to rearrange your holiday destination or date.
  • Allianz will consider cancellation claims for costs for which you are unable to obtain a refund. These claims will only be considered if the arrangements were booked before the FCDO advice against travel was announced.
  • You may have consumer protection cover if your travel arrangements were purchased using a credit card. In this instance, please contact your credit card issuer as an alternative avenue for a refund.
  • If you choose to cancel your trip of your own accord, your Coutts Travel Protection policy will not cover you for any cancellation costs that you could incur. Please refer to the Insurance Guide for details of the cover provided.
  • If you have purchased a single trip policy and would like to travel to another destination or travel on another date, please contact Allianz Customer Service on 020 7126 7532 (Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm and Saturday, from 9am to 1pm) so that appropriate changes can be made for you. An additional premium may be payable for any increase in trip duration or change in destination country.
