We’re proud to announce our client journey lead, Alison Graham, was named Banker of the Year at the Women in Finance UK Awards 2023. The Banker of the Year prize is awarded to the most influential and inspirational female private and/or personal banker. They should have overseen strong financial performance and successfully guided the bank in best practices, expansion into new markets, or innovation in terms of new products or services.

The judges noted that Alison had “gone from strength to strength in her career, demonstrating deep understanding of the industry and client needs, as well as excellent coaching and a desire to drive inclusivity”.

They also mentioned her role as a mentor in transforming her team and growing the potential of her colleagues. “Our judges were impressed with the importance she has [placed on] psychological safety, and on developing her team which has led to 100% of them agreeing that they can be themselves at work, and almost 50% of them achieving promotions within the business.”

The Women in Finance Awards recognises and celebrates women, allies, and organisations for their outstanding contributions to the finance industry. With the percentage of female financial services industry leaders globally remaining at 12%, the awards support the finance industry in its mission to move the dial on diversity and inclusion by providing a global platform to promote the importance of an inclusive finance sector.

Alison was also named as a Next Generation Leader by PAM earlier this year. This complements her client work with her role as Chair of the Coutts Wealth Social Mobility Group which aims to break down the barriers to people from lower socio-economic backgrounds from doing well in our industry.

Commenting on the Award, Alison said: “For me, this award is a reflection on all the brilliant colleagues that I’m surrounded by each day and how they inspire and support me. I’ve been so fortunate in my career to work with the greatest people, and I hope I’ve been able to do the team proud. I literally couldn’t do it alone."

“The energy at the awards ceremony was phenomenal, with women from across the industry bringing their best selves, and it was such a powerful reminder of women being a force in this industry.”
