Virtual wine and food tasting masterclass

Back by popular demand

Popular duo Tom Gilbey and Peter Fiori are hosting another virtual wine and food tasting masterclass on Friday 2 October from 7pm so you can learn all about some more delicious wines and food that matches perfectly with them. And this time, we’ll be adding to the fun by running a competition to find the most impressive dish created on the night!

SAMPLE THREE TASTY TIPPLES

Tom Gilbey, founder of wine merchants The Vintner, who supply the Coutts dining rooms, will be exploring three delightful wines (you'll receive two bottles of each wine being tasted):

  • Henri Favre NV Brut Champagne, Dizy, Champagne, France
  • Secateurs Chenin Blanc, Adi Badenhorst, Swartland, South Africa
  • Barbera d'Alba DOC 'La Gemella’, Viberti Giovanni, Piedmont, Italy

ENJOY THE WINES WHILST COOKING WITH PETER

Whilst sampling the wines, you’ll be able to cook along with Peter Fiori, our Executive Chef and author of our ‘From harvest to plate’ Skyline Garden Cookbook, who’ll be demonstrating live how to cook these two tasty dishes using seasonal produce (although you can just sit back and enjoy the wine if you’d prefer not to cook!):

Butternut squash, chestnut and truffle velouté with seared scallops

Steak in breadcrumbs with Pappardelle and a tomato cep ragout

If you or your guests are vegetarian, you can simply omit the scallops and steak and they’ll taste equally delicious. If you’d like to cook along with Peter, the ingredients you'll need can be found in the recipes

Last year, Peter created our ‘From harvest to plate’ Skyline Garden Cookbook which features recipes using the fruit and vegetables harvested from our rooftop. As part of this, we partnered with food surplus charity The Felix Project, which provides fresh food to vulnerable people across London, and for every book we sell, we donate the entire £40 cost of the book to The Felix Project. Coutts Current Account holders can order copies of the book by calling Coutts 24 on 020 7957 2424, who’ll arrange for £40 to be transferred from your account to The Felix Project.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO DO ON A FRIDAY EVENING

The evening promises to be both fun and informative and is expected to run as follows:

EXTENDING THE INVITE TO GUESTS

Clients have previously asked if they could extend the invite to their friends and family. If you’d like to do this, then we’d be delighted for your guests to join the fun. They can either register for the Zoom and order the wine themselves or you can do this on their behalf. Please note that separate orders will need to be placed when ordering the wine online. Alternatively, you can call The Vintner on 020 7352 4083 who’ll arrange this for you (they’re available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday).

SHARE YOUR MASTER CREATIONS AND WIN THE NEXT WINE TASTiNG BOX

We’d love to see the dishes that you create on the night. We’re therefore running a competition to find the most impressive creation. Simply photograph your dishes and email them to ~CouttsEvents@coutts.com telling us what you particularly enjoyed about the dish, by midnight on 4 October 2020, to be in with the chance of winning one wine tasting box with the four wines for our next masterclass on 13 November. The competition is open to everyone over 18 who has registered for the masterclass and who is UK resident. There’s one prize available.
