LENDING

We’ve set ourselves ambitious targets to reduce the climate impact of our lending and ensure it contributes towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. This includes working towards our ambition that 50% of our mortgage portfolio has an EPC rating of C or above by 2030.

Our approach to lending aims to help our clients reduce their own impact on the environment and reward their positive action. For example, our Green Mortgage Products could provide a fee refund for clients purchasing an energy efficient property or upgrading their current home to make it more energy efficient.

We recognise there’s a need for independent and expert advice to help our clients navigate what is a complicated and changing topic. We’re therefore forming partnerships with relevant experts to provide our clients with advice and guidance on how they might help tackle climate change.

INVESTING RESPONSIBLY

We invest responsibly, with integrity and purpose across all our investment products to help protect the future while paving the way to long-term, sustainable wealth. That means our clients are too.

THREE KEY FACTS:

1.

Our approach to responsible investing involves embedding it into every single aspect of how we handle our client portfolios and funds. We don’t offer one standalone sustainability product. It’s central to all our products and underpins every investment decision we make.

2.

We have introduced a number of important exclusions from our portfolios and funds which means we now do not invest in companies overly involved in high impact fossil fuels.

3.

We have signed up to the UN-backed Principles of Responsible Investment. This leading body conducts an annual, independent assessment of our responsible investing practices, and we have scored extremely highly – in line with or ahead of the wider industry.
