How to make a payment with our new digital service.

Secure, intuitive and simple, our improved digital service gives you a clearer view of your Coutts accounts and everything you need to manage your daily finances. Plus, you can now set up and pay new payees quickly and easily from the Coutts app.

Here are some of the latest changes we’ve made to our digital services.

 

DIGITAL CARD CONTROLS

 

We’ve introduced a range of controls for your Coutts card(s). This means you can use your digital services to turn the following on or off:

  • Contactless payments – decide whether you want your cards to work with or without the contactless function (including Apple Pay or Google Pay on your phone or watch)
  • Chip and PIN payments – if you prefer not to use chip and PIN with your card when making purchases, these can be switched off. However, sometimes you’ll need to use your PIN to confirm you’re the cardholder and the transaction is genuine. For example, if you’ve made a number of contactless transactions. When this happens, simply switch this function back on to approve the payment.
  • Online and telephone payments – choosing whether your card can be used for online and phone transactions puts you in control
  • Gambling payments – if you prefer not to use your card for any online or in person transactions associated with gambling (including casinos, race tracks and betting companies), simply switch off

You can apply the controls through our digital services (via the app or desktop)

  • Go to the ‘More’ section of the app or the drop down section via desktop
  • Click on the ‘Cards’ option
  • Then ‘Card payment controls’ to apply

 

Applying for A SILK CREDIT CARD
 

 You can now apply for a Coutts Silk credit card through our digital services.

  • Go to the ‘More’ section of the app or the drop down section via desktop
  • Click on the ‘Apply for new products’ button to find out more and apply.
  • Terms and conditions apply
NEED TO AMEND A STANDING ORDER?
 
  • Go to the ‘Payments’ section of the app
  • Select ‘Scheduled Payments’
  • Choose the Standing Order you need to amend
  • Change the value, date of the Standing Order or cancel altogether - or create a new one.

set up a 'challenge word' today

You can ask us to set up a ‘challenge word’ of your choice which you can then ask anyone calling you who claims to be from the Bank to confirm. If they’re unable to provide the correct answer, you’ll know it’s a fraudster. Please contact your private banker or call Coutts 24 who’ll arrange for the necessary paperwork to be sent to you to set this up.  

 

Important information

A smartphone or tablet with a recent version of iOS or Android is required to access our digital service. Read-only access will be provided to users age 11 to 16. Access to our digital service is at our discretion. To activate the service, we’ll need to hold an email address and mobile phone number. Face ID and fingerprint recognition available on selected devices. Payments made to new payees over a certain value will need to be made on the desktop version as an additional layer of security.
