Google PAY

Enjoy the benefits of your debit or credit card using Google Pay. It's an easy, secure and private way to pay.

HOW DOES Google PAY WORK?

Google Pay allows people with an Android device to make contactless payments in store. It can also be used for secure transactions on the web and in apps.

In shops, Google Pay is accepted wherever contactless payments are. There’s no purchase limit, although some retailers may cap payments at the £100 contactless limit. It’s the safer way to pay as it keeps you from having to touch buttons or handle cash when you’re out getting what you need. Simply unlock your phone and hold it near the terminal.

To use Google Pay you will need to have a supported device. Google Pay is available on most Android devices with 'NFC' (Near Field Communication) running Android Lollipop® 5.0 and higher.

HOW DO I SET UP GOOGLE PAY?

To set up Google Pay, you need to add your eligible cards to the Google Pay app on your Android device. To add a card:

1.   Open the Google Pay app on your device. You may need to download it from the Google Play Store

2.   Select '+' to add your card and billing address details

3.   Read and accept the terms and conditions

4.   Follow the on-screen instructions to verify your card

5.   Once your card is verified, you are ready to use Google Pay

If you want to add multiple cards in Google Pay, you will need to add each one separately.

HOW SECURE IS GOOGLE PAY?

Google Pay is the most secure way to pay as every transaction requires you to unlock your device with either your PIN, pattern, password, fingerprint or retina-scan.

When you use your phone to pay in stores, Google Pay doesn’t send your actual debit or credit card number with your payment. Instead, an encrypted virtual account number is used to represent your information – so your real card details stay safe.

On top of the extra security offered by Google Pay, you also get all the protections you would get with your debit and credit cards.
