We’ve been supporting clients from around the world since the 18^th century. During the French Revolution, many aristocrats fled to England. Thomas Coutts, leader of our bank, offered the émigrés financial aid and helped them exchange jewels for much-needed cash. As a result, Coutts created the French Department – our first specialist international team.
