The 25 most popular restaurants in London
How Coutts clients can get the best tables at the most in-demand eateries.

Discerning diners were more concerned with photogenic food and good views than Michelin stars last year, according to new research.
Ten Lifestyle Group, the organisation behind the Coutts Concierge service, has compiled its latest annual list of the 25 most in-demand restaurants in London – full list below.
Its research reveals that restaurants offering a ‘multi-sensory’ experience were more popular than those with industry accolades.
The list includes only three Michelin-starred restaurants, compared to 11 back in 2013, despite more venues receiving the accolade. But with diners increasingly wanting scenic views or Instagram-friendly suppers, restaurants meeting those needs now feature more prominently.
Ten’s list is based on bookings they handled for more than two million people from October 2017 to September 2018.
Sexy Fish and the City
Mayfair’s Sexy Fish comes out on top, followed by Sushisamba, Chiltern Firehouse, Gymkhana and Hutong.
Stuart Newey, Head of Client Service & Delivery at Coutts, says, “Fine dining is a real passion for many of our clients and Ten’s research provides great insight into some of the best places to eat.
“The good news is that our Coutts Concierge service gives Silk cardholders access to any of the venues listed in the top 25, and many more around the world, as well as exclusive benefits. We take great pride in understanding our clients’ lifestyles and being more than just a bank to them, and this is a great example of us doing just that.”

Good looking cooking drives reservations
Ten says the rising trend towards posting pictures of meals on social media has led to more client requests for specific dishes rather than specific restaurants. The group found that diners increasingly appreciate what’s known in the business as “the art of plating”.
The top five dishes that drove people’s decisions on where to eat – they picked the restaurant specifically for these creations – were:
- Tom Kerridge’s ‘Lobster Omelette’
- the ‘Turbot’ at Brat
- the ‘Crumpet’ at Cornerstone
- the ‘Peking Duck’ at Duddells
- the ‘Nest Egg’ at Hide

Privacy is also proving more popular according to the research.
Patrick Crichton-Stuart, Head of Dining at Ten Lifestyle Group, explains, “Despite our ability to book members into top restaurants, as we have done for years, it is exclusivity that seems to be the new burgeoning trend, with private members’ club access being more and more requested.”
Private members’ clubs in the top 25 include The Century Club, Devonshire Club and Blacks Club.
Healthy eating also appears to be gaining in popularity, with more Asian fusion and Japanese restaurants appearing on the list than in previous years.
