Coutts New Jeweller to the Stars

A Coutts New Jewellers Award winner who showcased her gems at Coutts London Jewellery Week has seen X Factor judge and Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole snap up her designs following the event.

The singer was recently spotted wearing one of the pieces by Katie Rowland, creative director of Ring Leader Urban Jewellery and winner of a Coutts News Jeweller award. Cheryl was photographed wearing the Amethyst collar (£400), from the St Tropez collection, on her way to an X Factor audition.

Katie believes Coutts’ week-long focus on the jewellery industry has definitely enhanced her business and opened doors for her. “The award win has really increased my profile as a designer,” she said, “and it has given my brand a certain amount of kudos too. The association with such a prestigious bank has been hugely important in marketing my company, not only to the public but to the press as well.”

Katie exhibited her collection at both Coutts’ head office and Treasure in Covent Garden during Coutts London Jewellery Week, where she met Cheryl’s stylist.

“I’ve also had a 50 per cent rise in direct hits to my website and a dramatic increase in sales. As a relative newcomer to the industry, this would normally be so hard to achieve, particularly in the current economic climate.

“I would love to keep building my relationship with the people at Coutts, as they offer such a wealth of knowledge that I wouldn’t have had access to otherwise,” concluded Katie.
