Password Advice
The best password is one that's easy for you to remember but impossible for anyone to guess. Passwords are the key to your online account security so it's important to take some time to think about how you should construct strong passwords.
Here are some hints and tips relating to password security:
- Use a mixture of upper and lower case letters, numbers and characters.
- Do not use personal details for your password (Family names, pet names, date of birth etc) - these can easily be guessed.
- Use at least 8 characters - the more characters the stronger your password is.
- Do not use dictionary words - avoid passwords that contain real words.
- Change your password immediately if you think someone else knows it. Do not use the same password for different online services.
- Keep your password secret. Don't let people look over your shoulder when you enter your password. Do not write down your password anywhere.
