Born in Cardiff in 1951, Stephen is one of Britain's best known cultural commentators and design consultants. He is the author of more than ten books, including 'Life's a Pitch' and nearly thirty exhibition catalogues. He writes for several newspapers including The Observer, The Independent on Sunday and The Sunday Telegraph, and is a contributing editor of GQ, as well as being a globally renowned lecturer.
He has been internationally recognised for his contribution to design. In 1989 Stephen was made a Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France's top artistic honour, by French Minister of Culture, and in 1995, he was Periodical Publishers' Association Columnist of the Year.
