Welcome to the new issue of In The Know
In our recent research report, A Special Kind of Exit, we examined the role of the Management buyout (MBO) and learnt that as we went into 2012, the number of entrepreneurs considering this as a route for business exit was on the rise.
With money from trade buyers thin on the ground and poor prospects for economic growth depressing valuations for all but the most outstanding businesses, it is not suprising that more people are opening to the MBO as a way of securing an exit from a business in these volatile times. It could be that over the coming years the MBO takes more centre stage as an exit route of choice for entrepreneurs.
With this in mind, we have decided to place the spotlight in this issue on the Management Buy-Out with two stand out tales of what it takes to make these deals work. Karen Ellis gives the Insider View of both buying and selling her insurance business and also how an MBO was Derek Whitworth's big bet.
Their experiences make for a compelling read and in 2012 we hope to bring you more rich insight from your peers in the entrepreneurial community with the launch of our Knowledge Exchange.
Knowledge Exchange for entrepreneurs will be a content rich community resource where you will be able to benefit from the insight of people like you who share their experiences of the entrepreneurial journey. We will be providing video interviews and guides covering the early stages of growth, the challenge of sustaining growth, the exit journey, the issues which accompany that phase and life post exit.
We will look at these both from a personal and business perspective. We are excited about this initiative and confident it will help to add value and inform your decision making. We'd love to hear your thoughts for future content.
