Current wine offers

Coutts is delighted to announce the new spring fine wine selection brought to you by our expert partner Lay & Wheeler.

The wines have been chosen with spring in mind so we have selected some of the most popular wine regions in the world and some of the best producers. The white wines include crisp, zesty Chablis and a beautifully refreshing Gavi di Gavi. The reds are spicy and rich, including smooth Claret and a delightful Rosso di Montepulciano.

Champagne is one of the best ways to add some sparkle to any celebration or dinner party and this Blanc de Noirs from Michel Guilleminot is a Coutts’ client favourite. Elegant and refined, it is perfect as an apéritif or served with canapés and light starters.

Domaine Alphonse Budin’s Chablis, from the outstanding 2010 vintage, is made by François Servin of prestigious Domaine Servin. Versatile and classically styled, it has a flinty minerality and zesty acidity. With its lively character and elegant nature, it is perfect to serve with seafood and white meats.

Dry white Bordeaux is always a complex, expressive and classy white wine and for this spring offer we have chosen the 2010 Sec de Rayne Vigneau. This Sauvignon Blanc is made by one of the leading Châteaux in Sauternes; delicious and savoury, it is a superb match with oysters.

The understated elegance of the 2011 Sancerre, Paul Cherrier makes it one of our favourites. An ideal food wine, its citrus characters and smoky minerality make it an ideal partner with shellfish or Loire goats’ cheese.

The white wines of Italy can often be overlooked, but we have included a delicious Gavi di Gavi from this increasingly popular appellation. The Gavi di Gavi La Minaia from Nicola Bergaglio is light, fresh and steely with apple, peach and apricot flavours; a shining example from this excellent region.

Also from Italy, we are pleased to offer the 2009 Rosso di Montepulciano by Poliziano in Tuscany. This is an earlier-drinking version of the prestigious Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which is deliciously textured and opulently perfumed. It would pair well with grilled meat and Mediterranean roasted vegetables.

Good claret is a wine-rack must-have and 2009 Château La Marzenac is wonderfully rich and smooth, displaying quintessential plummy Right Bank character. Ideal with roasted red meat and game, it also has the body and richness to accompany flavoursome seasonal stews.

The Rhone valley is one of the most diverse quality wine-making regions in France. In the northern Rhone, Syrah rules supreme and the 2009 Crozes Hermitage, Terre de Crozes by Francois Arnaud Dauvergne is a wonderful example of this tremendous grape variety. Drinking beautifully now, it is a significant wine of real class.

Individual wines may be ordered in cases of 6 or 12, as detailed for each wine. In addition to the popular single wine cases, Lay & Wheeler have also selected a mixed case, which is an ideal way to sample a selection of wines from this range and would also make a perfect gift for any wine lover.

The 12 bottle Tasting Case includes two bottles of each of the following:

2010 Sec de Rayne Vigneau
2010 Chablis Alphonse Budin
2010 Gavi di Gavi La Minaia, Nicola Bergaglio
2009 Château La Marzenac
2009 Crozes Hermitage, Terre de Crozes, Francois Arnaud Dauvergne
2009 Rosso di Montepulciano, Poliziano
