Contemporary artists join forces to celebrate Japanese Culture
Hosted by Coutts & Fisher Meredith
United by a shared Japanese theme, contemporary artists from across the globe are coming together on 1st November 2007 to showcase their work in a private exhibition for one night only. Brought to you by Coutts & Co and the Creative Business Unit of Fisher Meredith Solicitors, The Creative Industries evening will celebrate a cultural fusion of tradition and innovative design at Coutts head office, 440 Strand, London.
Over 200 guests, including clients, art industry contacts and investors, will have the opportunity to explore the world of new design with an eclectic exhibition of jewellery, visual and digital art, fashion, furniture design and silverware. Featured artists will include a jewellery maker who bases most of his work on the styles of European and Japanese chain mail, uniting ancient chain mail skills with that of his own. Another artist uses a combination of man-made materials and plant life, merging the elements so that they appear to be growing together in harmony to recreate the silent beauty that plants possess.
Since its inception in 2004, Fisher Meredith’s Creative Business Unit has been a hothouse and nurturing environment for some of London’s brightest and most creative talents. The client base comprises international award winners who exhibit the world over.
Perry Littleboy, Director of Marketing at Coutts & Co commented: “Throughout its history, Coutts has always been a strong supporter of the arts and we are looking forward to strengthening the relationship between the world of contemporary design and business in such an innovative way. Coutts likes to break new ground in arts sponsorship and in the past has worked with the Saatchi Gallery. Indeed, we are currently exhibiting over 20 pieces of art from both unseen and established international artists hand picked from the Saatchi collection.”
“Carrying on our rich tradition of arts sponsorship, we like to lend our support to cutting edge British-based artists and are delighted to be supporting The Creative Industries again.”
Stephen Hewitt, Managing Partner of Fisher Meredith said “Fisher Meredith is a progressive law firm with strong links to the arts and is proud to be associated with both Coutts and the best of contemporary design.”
Hot on the heels of the London Design Festival, this unique gathering underlines the importance of the design industry and its growing impact on business and commerce in the Capital.
The beautiful setting of the Garden Court at Coutts, complete with pond and Koi carp, complement the Japanese theme and will allow artists to show off their work to maximum effect.
Interspersed amongst the pieces of work and installations will be furniture supplied by Greenwich Village and music for the evening has been curated by Nick Luscombe, Musical Director of the ICA and radio D.J.
