Local business people to climb UK’s three highest peaks in 24 hours in aid of deaf children
A team from Coutts & Co. in London have pledged to raise over £5,000 for the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) by undertaking the gruelling 24 hour NDCS Three Peaks Challenge. They will scale the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales to raise money to support deaf children and their families.
“This is a real personal challenge for us,” said team leader David Pallister. “It will be tough going, and we have a lot of training to do between now and setting off, but I know it will be worth the hard work to raise as much money as possible for deaf children and their families across the UK.
“The challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just 24 hours! I’m looking forward to the spectacular scenery and the whole team will have a great sense of achievement when we reach the finish point.”
Helen Williams, NDCS Head of Events, explained: “Every day in the UK three babies are born deaf and most are born to hearing parents with no experience of deafness. The NDCS is the only UK charity solely dedicated to the support of deaf children and young people, their families, and professionals working with them and is funded almost entirely through public donations. Our work would not be possible without the commitment of people like the Coutts team.”
NDCS Challenges offer the experience of a lifetime and there are always new adventures to sign up for. If you’d like to find out more please call NDCS Challenges on: 0870 7747774 or visit: www.ndcschallenges.org.uk
The team needs to raise £5,000 sponsorship to take part and is appealing to kind-hearted readers to support their fundraising efforts for deaf children.
