Stella McCartney designs new Current Account Card for Coutts
Second British designer to team up with Coutts to redesign its cards
Coutts & Co, the UK’s leading private bank, today announced the launch of the new current account card designed by Stella McCartney. Available for new and existing clients, the card sits beside the Coutts World super premium card, designed in 2004 by another imaginative British creative talent, Ozwald Boateng.
Almost every client has an account card and Coutts has brought a new dimension to the most important part of the current account. With cards being, in essence, a contemporary take on cash, Stella McCartney’s design combines the intricacies found on banknotes and on the Coutts cheque book with aspects of the British countryside. Echoing the watermark on a banknote, a translucent Coutts signature has been created for the card that can be seen when held up to the light. Sarah Deaves, Chief Executive of Coutts & Co, commented: “We are very excited to be working with Stella McCartney who has brought imagination and creativity to a key component of our current account. The new card has been designed to complement our “famous” Coutts’ cheque book - we hope that our clients will enjoy using it!”
Stella McCartney added: “It was refreshing to be asked by Coutts to design something I have never done before. It is a design area that has been overlooked in the past and its about time you get to spend your hard earned money with an account card that looks good!”
