22 April 2013: Coutts launches a new range of cards - The Silk Charge Card and Black Credit Card

London – Coutts launches the Silk Charge Card and the Black Credit Card, successors to the existing World Charge Card and Gold Credit/Charge Card. Along with elegant new designs, the cards offer significantly enhanced travel and international benefits.

With Silk, clients can tailor up to six additional cards on their account, for example for family member usage. In addition, clients will gain VIP recognition and access to privileges tailored to client lifestyles and access to luxury events and offers. Clients will also be enrolled in Thank You from Coutts, a new recognition programme that rewards clients for using the card.

The cards will also retain many of the benefits of their predecessors. For the Silk card, the design for which was inspired by the wallpaper brought back by Britain’s first ambassador to China in 1794, and presented to Thomas Coutts, this includes:

  • A personalised Coutts Concierge service;
  • Priority Pass airport lounge membership including unlimited access to more than 600 executive airport lounges worldwide and up to two complimentary guest passes per visit;
  • Comprehensive Annual Travel Insurance; and
  • Continental breakdown cover.

Holders of the Black card will now have complimentary Priority Pass airport lounge membership with six free visits per cardholder, car hire insurance and online fraud protection. The card retains worldwide travel accident and inconvenience insurance along with card protection. Further information on the cards including images can be found here.

Simon Ridgers, Head of Banking, Credit & Treasury Products comments: “It’s been a while since we last significantly updated our cards and the global rebrand of Coutts in 2011 provided us with the perfect opportunity to review our card suite. Following extensive client research and feedback, we decided to change our proposition. These cards have specifically been designed around the needs of clients and to ensure we continue to offer a market leading and compelling offering.”
