Coutts is sponsoring the Coutts Quarter Ton Cup, which will take place between 14 and 16 June in Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
The nine race regatta over three days will be hosted by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club. The event is open to Quarter Tonners of all generations with the racing taking place inshore within the Solent.
Coutts will be holding a dinner for clients on 14 June at The Sir Max Aitken Museum in Cowes, which provides a unique setting and provides a fascinating insight into our nautical heritage, for both existing and prospective clients.
Stephen Kemp, Senior Private Banker at Coutts, commented: "We see the Quarter Ton Cup as a mini ‘Goodwood Revival’ on the water and are very excited about the event this year. The Quarter Tonners very much echo the values at the heart of the Coutts brand – passion to succeed, bespoke output, teamwork and a balance between the best of both tradition and cutting edge modern thinking."
The annual regatta has grown from strength to strength over the years as the Quarter Ton Class boats have seen a revival of interest from helmsmen who are searching for classic yachts to race. Many of today’s top yachtsmen started within the class.
Coutts has a rich maritime heritage dating back to the late 18th century, when Thomas Coutts and his brother held shares in several East Indiamen. Indeed, in 1827, the 1365 ton Thomas Coutts completed a world record-breaking run from England to China and back in 355 days.
Coutts first became involved with the Quarter Ton Class Regatta in 2006, when it sponsored the sails and crew kit of the beautifully restored yacht Catch which was owned by Darren Marston and went on to worldwide fame with its dramatic Chinese gybe off Egypt Point in Cowes
