How to… Recreate This Season’s Hair Trends
The experts at Lockonego share how you too can be sporting this spring’s hairstyles.
Hair is all about being big and bold and making statements this season. Taking massive inspiration from the avant-garde creations that used to be limited to haute couture shows, hairstyles are becoming increasingly daring and experimental.
Now is a great time to play with different textures and interesting shapes and movement in hair. Hairstyles should be boundless and as creative as you dare.
The Modern Victorian created by Jonathan Long, has taken royal inspiration with a gothic twist. Follow his step by step guide to recreate the look.
- Apply Sebastian Professional Thickefy Foam from roots to ends into clean damp hair.
- To achieve this natural, romantic finish, roughly blow dry hair using fingers instead of a brush to encourage natural texture and waves. Once dry, use a wide barrelled curling tong to define curls and add extra waves to hair.
- Tong strands at the front into loose waves that hang free to soften the finished look.
- Gently pull hair away from the face and secure in place with a clear elastic hair-tie then shake the ponytail to make it look soft and messy. The hair should look baggy from the sides.
- Finally, tuck the ponytail section under the hair at the nape of the neck and pin into place then shake again.
- Tease out some fine strands of fly-away hair for the soft, romantic finish.
Ben Cooke, celeb hairstylist & Co-Founder of Lockonego says: "Get instant style credentials with contrasting textures and embrace naturally curly and frizzy hair for a dishevelled, grunge-glamour look. A cool, understated look inspired by London’s unique and fresh style, this season’s effortless hairstyle is easy to create and maintain."
Inject attitude to your bob with ruffled waves and plenty of glamorous shine by following this step by step guide
- Smooth a generous amount of Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Leave In Cream into damp hair and blow dry using Lockonego’s signature Paddle Brush gently detangle and smooth your locks.
- Twist a small section of hair around a medium round brush and blast with heat from your hairdryer to achieve a soft wave instead of a poker-straight finish.
- Repeat this in random sections all over to create the ruffled, deliberately imperfect style and complete by teasing your fingertips through the hair for sexy kinks.
- Finish your edgy look with a light amount of Sebastian Professional Halo Mist all over for a staying-power with added UV protection.
Or try The Multi-Textured Mane, also created by Ben, for a real show-stopping look which combines ultra curly hair with super sleek, straight and shiny locks for a modern and elegant style that is right on trend.
- For an effective and controlled substitute to heating tongs try using a homemade alternative. Twist tin foil to create long wands, you’ll need around 20- 30 for a whole head.
- Starting from the bottom of the head and working your way to the top take sections of hair and wind them neatly around the wands. Twist the ends of the foil together to secure the hair in place.
- Once all sections are neatly secured heat the hair with a diffuser for around 15-20 minutes.
- Let the hair cool and set before spritzing with Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper hair spray. Carefully unravel the hair releasing the curls.
- Run your fingers through the hair to separate the sections creating more curls wispier in texture. The more you tease the curls the more volume you will achieve.
- Using hair straighteners smooth the roots creating a striking contrast in textures and completing the look.
