A special collection of Manolo Blahnik’s world-renowned shoe designs will be available exclusively in Liberty of London from 8 September.  This will be the first time they have ever been sold outside of his flagship store in the UK.

Blahnik raided the Liberty archives to choose fabrics from the 60s for this collection, reflecting his current love of geometric prints.  He also designed his very own set of Liberty prints which use his signature watercolour drawings in different ways.

The first print ‘Rosebud – an homage to Orson Welles’ uses an intricately detailed rose bud – Manolo’s favourite flower, and a play on Liberty’s classic micro-florals.  The second ‘Winter 2010 – shoes and Bottines’ is an elaborate culmination of the different designs in his A/W collection and the third ‘Rothko’s Shoes’ is an eye catching 50s feeling geometric print comprising coloured shoes nestled in pairs.
These fabrics are a limited print run and will be on sale by the metre.

Alongside shoes, the collection will include an instantly covetable set of limited edition products.  These include ‘bouton de rose’ a scented candle with a heart of French violet and Turkish rose developed alongside English perfumer Lyn Harris, bow ties, stationery, canopy umbrellas with Manolo’s Liberty fabrics printed on the inside, notebooks, shoe horns and cushions.  And as Liberty is known as the place to buy scarves, Blahnik has also created a limited edition line.

All of the specially designed items and the collection of shoes will be showcased in a bespoke ‘World of Manolo’ area in Liberty on the ground floor.  Plus the man himself will attend an exclusive book signing event at the store on 21 October to mark the launch of his second book ‘Manolo’s New Shoes.’
