Bankline

With Bankline, you can:

• view your balances and transactions for sterling accounts on the internet in real time
• view your balances and transactions for currency accounts held with us
• move money between your accounts as a single or bulk transaction
• make single or bulk domestic payments
• make 'Faster Payments'
• make CHAPS payments
• make International payments
• request Bankers Drafts
• view and cancel standing orders and direct debit instructions
• order cheque books, paying-in books, and certificates of interest
• import payment files and export account and payment information.

Bankline is compatible with most PC and Mac-based systems. The service supports the following web browsers and operating systems:

Windows users:

• Microsoft Internet Explorer® 5 & 5.5, Internet Explorer 6 on Windows NT4 SP6, 2000, XP.
• Netscape® 6 and above on Windows NT4 SP6, 2000, XP.
• Firefox 1.0 and above.

Mac users:

• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1.7 on Mac OS® 8 and 9.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.2.3 on Mac OS X.
• Netscape 6 and above (on Mac OS 8.1 and above).

Operating systems:

• Windows NT4 SP6, 2000, XP.
• Mac OS 8.1 and above.
• Linux GTK2.

These browsers permit 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption to protect information during transmission.

Internet connection and email:

You need an internet connection to access Bankline. You can use a dial-up, broadband or corporate network connection. You will also need an email account to receive messages from Bankline.

Hardware:

Bankline is designed for a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. To get the best from the service, we recommend you set your display preferences to this.

All users:

If you don't have it already, you need free Adobe Acrobat Reader software to view some of the forms relating to Bankline.

We protect Bankline with proven industry standard security measures, such as data encryption, passwords, PINs and users IDs. Security tokens, comprising a smartcard and smartcard reader, also protect you when paying online.

Additionally, we've worked with the experts at Trusteer, to create a special version of their security software - Rapport.  This free piece of software further strengthens your defences against online fraud by hiding online credentials and transactions from malicious software and fraudulent websites.
