Royal Court Theatre

The Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square is conveniently close to the office in Cadogan Place, where Coutts have had local representation for more than 75 years. The theatre is a leading force in world theatre, finding and producing plays that are
original, contemporary and challenging.  From the start, the Royal Court has always promoted new writers, actors, designers and directors and many are now very well established in the world of entertainment.

On 1 January 2007, the theatre appointed a new artistic director, Dominic Cooke.  His first season included emerging writers who have been discovered by the Royal Court’s Young Writers Programme.  International work, long pioneered by the Royal Court, also featured.  The season included premieres of several new plays by international writers, together with new translations of two classic European parables, Rhinoceros and The Fire Raisers.

Following on from Coutts successful lead sponsorship of the Royal Court’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 2006, we were delighted to sponsor Dominic Cooke’s flagship production in the autumn 2007 of Rhinoceros, which ran from 21 September until 15 December. Rhinoceros was performed in repertoire with The Fire Raisers, directed by Royal Court associate director, Ramin Gray, featuring the same cast.
