Coutts & Co, the UK’s leading private bank, has today announced that Football Association Executive Director, David Davies, is to become its regional chairman for London, upon his retirement from the FA in September.
Coutts, which was named best provider of services to sports professionals earlier this year, has appointed Davies to work as a consultant with its sports and entertainment division. His role will be to act as an ambassador for the bank, through his links with the world of sport. He has developed these over more than a decade through long term roles with the British Olympic Association in the build up to the successful bid for London 2012 and as an ambassador for English football in every continent.
On his appointment, Davies commented: “I am very pleased to announce my intention to join Coutts as regional chairman. While I remain totally focussed on supporting England through the World Cup in Germany next month, I look forward to starting this new and very different challenge after 12 years with the FA. Coutts already manages the finances of a wide variety of sport professionals, from different fields and in different capacities, and I look forward to helping the bank further develop its business in this area.”
John Williams, head of private banking at Coutts, added: “We are delighted to welcome David to our team. He brings with him a wealth of experience and an insight into the world of sport from both the perspective of a highly regarded journalist, and as an enormously successful executive at the FA. We look forward to working with him to enhance our position as the leading provider of wealth management services to sports professionals.
“We wish David and the England team the very best of luck in Germany and look forward to celebrating a successful tournament on their return.”
