COUTTS ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF LAWRENCE PRICE
18 March 2002

Coutts & Co, the UK's leading private bank, has announced the retirement of Lawrence Price, senior private banker at the Newcastle regional office.

Lawrence joined Coutts & Co from NatWest, now part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, four years ago to set up the private bank's regional office. Under Lawrence, the Newcastle office has attracted a growing number of clients and has established a reputation for providing individual wealth management solutions for clients throughout the North East.

Peter Wagstaff, senior private banker who leads the team in Newcastle, said: "Lawrence's contribution to the success of the Coutts business in Newcastle has been tremendous. During the 26 years he spent with NatWest and Coutts in the North East, Lawrence developed impressive contacts throughout the local business community. He played a key role in building an unrivalled reputation for Coutts, its products and services. We are all sorry to see him go and wish him happiness in his retirement."

With Lawrence's retirement, the regional office will be managed by David Simpson, senior private banker, and Alison Lander, private banker. David joined Coutts in 1998 from Barclays, where he spent 14 years in private and corporate sector roles. Alison joined Coutts from NatWest Bank where she specialised in looking after corporate accounts up to £15m. Alison joins the management team at Coutts after supporting Lawrence for four years.

Coutts & Co's Newcastle office looks after the wealth management needs of clients throughout the North East, primarily wealthy business owners and entrepreneurs, professionals, executives and retired clients. It provides a personalised approach to wealth management, aimed at preserving and growing the wealth of its clients.
