COUTTS MARKS TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH RECEPTION AT RUDDING PARK
28 November 2002

Coutts & Co, the UK's leading private bank, celebrates its tenth year in Leeds tonight with a Champagne reception at Rudding Park, near Harrogate.

Two hundred guests of Coutts will make their way to Rudding Park to join the team of local private bankers, and senior executives from the private bank's offices in London, to celebrate ten years of success in Yorkshire. They will be entertained by the choirs of Leeds Parish Church and Ripon Cathedral who will sing a range of hymns and carols in the chapel.

Lord Home, chairman of Coutts & Co, will be at Rudding Park to join the local private bankers in celebrating the continued success of the office. He said: "The volatile global markets may have forced many players to pull out of the wealth management arena, particularly in the regions, but Coutts has continued to grow its business and assets under management. Our regional office network is a particular success story and, as an illustration of this success, we are increasing the number of private bankers in our regional offices by nearly 30 per cent."

"The Leeds office was one of the first to be opened outside of London. It was one of the first regional offices to offer specialised wealth management products and services for all Coutts' client groups including professionals, executives, sports and entertainment. We attribute our success locally to the vibrancy of Yorkshire, the entrepreneurial spirit which is inherent here and, of course, the establishment of Leeds as a major financial centre."

John Richardson, Coutts senior private banker who heads up the team of private bankers in Leeds, added: "We've built the business on a reputation for providing innovative and flexible wealth management solutions for our clients. Our priority going forward will be to continue to provide our clients with security and confidence, giving them the peace of mind from knowing that we are here to help protect and grow their wealth."

The Leeds regional office provides a convenient base for the large numbers of existing and potential clients throughout Yorkshire. Clients include professionals, corporate executives, business owners, people in retirement, sports and entertainment professionals, and those who have come into money through inheritance, or a divorce settlement, or a major competition win.
